    Digital Library: Link to E-learning

    Get PDF
Today ’s library includes sophisticated tools that make it easy to find the best information resources, delivering them to one’s desktop or mobile computing device at the push of a button. While there are still many challenges to realizing the potential of digital information, digital library technologies and practices have developed enough so they are within reach of every type and size of educational institution. This paper presents the key concepts of what the digital library can be, its key components, link to e-learning and the Campus Enterprise and some of the future directions. It is clear that digital library technology is becoming an essential enabler of library services

Gender Differences and Political Deliberations on Social Media

    Get PDF
Social media has emerged as an arena for political deliberation. Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp are major platforms where political debates/deliberation take place. This study was undertaken to investigate if attitude and perception towards these online platforms for political deliberation differs for male and female. For this purpose, a quantitative study was conducted using a structured questionnaire among 400 students of a private university. The finding suggests that males are more likely to be involved on political deliberation on social media than their female counterparts. Also male students value social media as an arena for political deliberation more than their female students

Ruptured uterus outcome among the pregnant women admitted in a tertiary care centre

Background: Rupture of a previously unscarred uterus is usually a catastrophic event resulting in death of the baby and sometimes even maternal death from blood loss. Incidence of rupture uterus varies from 0.3/1000 to 7/1000 deliveries in India accounting for 5% to 10% of all maternal deaths. Hence, the present study was conducted to study the proportion of ruptured uterus among the antenatal women admitted, their associated clinical spectrum and maternal outcome. Methods: A cross sectional study was carried out among 46 antenatal women presented with ruptured uterus in the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at N.S.C.B medical college and Hospital at Jabalpur, (M.P) during 1st August 2011 to 31st August 2012.Results: The incidence of ruptured uterus was 1 in 118 (0.84%) of all hospital deliveries. Mostly, 18 (39.1%) patients were in 26 -30yrs of age. Maximum, 22 patients (47.83%) with ruptured uterus were in second gravidae. Most common site of scar rupture was lower uterine segment, observed in 42 (91.30%) patients. The most common form of management was rent repair done in 36 (78.26%) patients, followed by subtotal hysterectomy (STH) in 8 (17.39%) and total hysterectomy (TH) in 2(4.34%) patients. A perinatal mortality was seen in 38 (82.60 %) cases with 1 maternal death was observed. Conclusions: Reducing the primary cesarean section rate and early diagnosis with active surgical management will go a long way in reducing the incidence of ruptured uterus and maternal and fetal mortality

Two-Proton Radioactivity with 2p halo in light mass nuclei A==18−-34

Two-proton radioactivity with 2p halo is reported theoretically in light mass nuclei A == 18-34. We predict 19^{19}Mg, 22^{22}Si, 26^{26}S, 30^{30}Ar and 34^{34}Ca as promising candidates of ground state 2p-radioactivity with S2p_{2p} 0. Observation of extended tail of spatial charge density distribution, larger charge radius and study of proton single particle states, Fermi energy and the wave functions indicate 2p halo like structure which supports direct 2p emission. The Coulomb and centrifugal barriers in experimentally identified 2p unbound 22^{22}Si show a quasi-bound state that ensures enough life time for such experimental probes. Our predictions are in good accord with experimental and other theoretical data available so far.Comment: 5 Pages, 5 figure

Neurofibromatosis in pregnancy: study of 2 cases

    Get PDF
The report presents two cases of neurofibromatosis (NF) and illustrates how women with NF have increased complications associated with pregnancy. With these case reports, we wanted to describe the diagnostic possibilities, management of pregnancies and dilemmas in everyday clinical practice of a gynaecologist

Observational study to characterize socio-demographic data and clinical presentation in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

    Get PDF
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a common inflammatory disease with high global morbidity and mortality. It is characterized by poorly reversible airway obstruction. The major risk factor associated is smoke exposure which leads to chronic respiratory failure. Various chronic medical conditions commonly coexisting with COPD include coronary artery disease, diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis and muscle weakness. Co-morbid conditions should be managed appropriately along with treatment of COPD. Present observational study was undertaken to characterize socio-demographic data, clinical presentation and possible co-morbidities (cardiac, diabetes mellitus, and hypertension) in COPD patients. The observed data was analyzed to study prevalence of all parameters gender wise and relation with diagnostic technique i.e. chest X-ray and electrocardiography (ECG) for cardiac screening. Therefore, in the following study, elderly and male patients were prominently affected by COPD with common symptoms of cough, breathlessness, expectoration, fever and chest pain. Diabetes is one of the co-morbidities observed in this set of patients. Hence, random blood sugar (RBS) and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) parameters were deranged in this cohort of patients. Additionally, ECG was also observed to be abnormal in few patients. Conclusively, this study highlighted various demographic features, clinical symptoms and comorbidities responsible for health burden of COPD patients

Acute hemorrhagic leukoencephalitis a rare presentation of dengue fever: a case report

Dengue virus infection is widespread in the tropics and infection ranges from asymptomatic to dengue fever, dengue hemorrhagic fever and dengue shock syndrome. It rarely leads to neurological complications because it is classically a non-neurotropic virus. Encephalitis, meningitis, encephalopathy, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM), polyneuropathy, mononeuropathy, intracerebral hemorrhage and Guillain-Barre syndrome are very rare neurological manifestations seen in dengue. The list of neurological complications should also include “Dengue hemorrhagic leukoencephalitis is a very rare manifestation of this virus. Here we present a case of a 23 year old male having dengue fever and developing acute hemorrhagic leukoencephalitis during the course of the disease. Keywords: Dengue fever, acute hemorrhagic leukoencephalitis, meningiti
